Orange County SC got back to their winning ways with a 2-1 win over Swope Park Rangers, ending a nine game winless streak for the home side.
Here are three takeaways from Saturday night’s match.
Forward Irvin Parra, who recently made the move from Seattle Sounders FC 2 to Orange County SC managed to make an immediate impact for the team when he scored the deciding goal in the 64th minute to help secure all three points from the match.
Lately, with Parra’s presence in the line up allows Wuilito Fernandes to lose some pressure off his shoulders, having been the only available forward for majority of the season.
Undoubtedly this is a confidence boost for Orange County, considering the team has been in search for goal-scorers, and Parra will look continue to be a reliable option moving forward.
First To Score
On a positive note, Orange County were the first to score in this match, thanks a converted penalty by Jerry van Ewijk who made it 1-0 in the 43rd minute before heading into half-time.
In recent games, Orange County had struggled in terms of being the one to concede the first goal, but this time around instead of playing from behind, they were the first to score, and really dictated the pace of the match despite letting in an equalizer shortly after the second-half began.
Playoff Hopes Alive
With this win, Orange County keeps their playoff hopes alive in search of placing in the top eight.
Orange County is currently in 10th place with 33 points in the standings, which means there is still a lot of work left to do with just seven games remaining in the season.
