Orange County SC Suffer 4-0 Defeat To Tulsa Roughnecks FC

Orange County SC suffered a thrashing 4-0 defeat to Oklahoma’s very own Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday evening at OneOK Field.

What was certainly a competitive match from the start, quickly became one-sided in terms of scoring wise when the Roughnecks knocked in two quick goals in the 18th and 21st minute from goal-scorers Juan Pablo Caffa, and Ian Svantesson who got the better of Charlie Lyon off of set-pieces. Caffa’s goal came from a well-taken free-kick just outside the box, while Ian Svantesson blasted his towards the bottom right corner.

In the second-half, it was more of the same from the Roughnecks when Tulsa doubled their lead in a matter of minutes when Joey Calistiri took on the Orange County back-line in a foot race counter-attack leaving him to beat Lyon one on one in the 78th minute. Two minutes later, Ian Svantesson would score his second goal of the game when he placed one in the bottom left of the net to conclude the game at 4-0 in favor of the home-side.

Overall, Orange County SC had a difficult game defensively partly due to the strong-minded Tulsa attack. In the midfield, Orange County were stable, but definitely felt the absence of Duke Lacroix up top. However, It’s difficult away games like these that will better Orange County in the long-run as the team will look to bounce back next vs FC Golden State on Wednesday, May 17 in the U.S. Open Cup. Then back to Oklahoma to take on OKC Energy in league play on Saturday, May 20.
