OCSC Sign Orange County Natives Zach Kobayashi and Michael Suchy

Orange County SC announced on Thursday that they have officially acquired Zach Kobayashi and Michael Suchy, both the age of 19, and will look to add youth and depth to the team.

Kobayashi, a midfielder, makes the move from Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb, and has notably played for local clubs Pateadores, and West Coast FC. The teenager has gained plenty of European competition experience while spending time with some elite clubs in the old continent.

The highly sought after midfielder then went on to spend time with SV Weder Bremen in Germany and then Swiss champions FC Basel, before deciding to join the most successful club in Croatia, Dinamo Zagreb.

On the other hand, Michael Suchy, a goalkeeper, joins the roster after having successfully been on trial with OCSC and has become the first player in the club’s history to be signed to an amateur contract, which makes him available to play for the club’s U-23 Premier Development League team. Suchy is well-known to local soccer.

The 19-year-old keeper also came through West Coast Futbol Club before making the move to the LA Galaxy youth academy and then the Chivas USA youth academy. He will provide competition for the current keepers, Charlie Lyon and Casey Beyers.

Both players have an opportunity to earn a spot in the first-team rotation if they impress when their names are called upon. Furthermore, given their youth they could figure into the plans of LAFC as future signings if all goes well. Currently the Los Angeles Football Club has Carlos Alvarez as the first official signing in its history.

The LAFC affiliate is currently in 8th place in the Western Conference standings with four goals to its name. Duke Lacroix, Victor Pineda and Jerry van Ewijk have all notched goals for OCSC in the first three games of the season.

Orange County SC are set to take on rivals LA Galaxy II Saturday April 22 in what should be a tough and competitive match at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium. Both Kobayashi and Suchy are eligible to take part in Saturday’s fixture.
