Mark Segbers On Target As Orange County SC Defeat Los Dos 3-0

In the first edition of the I-405 Derby or “El Trafico Lite”, Orange County SC defeated LA Galaxy II 3-0.

It was a cagey start in the first half for both sides, but Los Dos had good looks in front of goal as Justin Dhillon made incisive runs behind Orange County’s defense.

Whether it was an apparent injury or tactical substitution, OC manager Braedan Coultier subbed off captain Richard Chaplow for former Wisconsin Badger Mark Segbers.

From that point on, the game changed for the home side.

Los Dos were given a red card towards the stroke of halftime and Segbers took over the show. The 18-year-old first round pick in 2018 got after the away side with his pace and trickery.

Just before halftime, he made an intelligent run as he latched onto a Michael Seaton through ball and put it under the legs of Los Dos keeper Eric Lopez to make it 1-0.

In the second half, he raised his game to another level as he made great runs and linked up well with his teammates.

As an added bonus, he added a second goal as he hit a curled shot with his left foot towards the far post to make it 2-0.

Nansel Selbol then hit a world-class shot to make it 3-0.

As Orange County SC are on a three-game winning streak, Segbers has been on a tear and the New England Revolution will have a lot to look forward to if he keeps up these kinds of performances.

Orange County SC will look to extend their winning streak as they travel away to face San Antonio FC on April 14.
