The Mexican National Team will embark on its 15th annual tour through the United States this summer in preparation for World Cup Qualifiers, the Confederations Cup and the Gold Cup with two exhibitions on May 27 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum vs Croatia and on June 1 at Metlife Stadium vs Ireland in New Jersey.

New MLS expansion club LAFC will be hosting the match in one of many more scheduled events with Club President and Owner Tom Penn expressing his excitement in welcoming both countries’ national teams to Los Angeles:

“We are incredibly excited to be selected as the host Club for this match,” said Club President and Owner Tom Penn. “Hosting both Mexico and Croatia at Exposition Park, adjacent to our stadium site in the heart of LA, is a great opportunity to witness some of the best players in the world play in our city as we ramp up to LAFC’s 2018 inaugural season.”

El Tri already made an appearance in 2017 in Las Vegas, NV in front of a record-breaking crowd in which they defeated Iceland 1-0. Given the popularity of Mexico, Los Angeles will surely sellout the Coliseum as they traditionally do every time they play in L.A.

Mexico has two upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago with numerous injuries but they still remain in second place in the CONCACAF Hexagonal. Most players should be available for selection once these friendlies come around.

Most of their European-based players will be available for these summer friendlies which will add to the excitement. It’s expected that head coach Juan Carlos Osorio will construct a very strong team for each competition making these matches very important as preparation.

Mexico is currently ranked 17th in the world while their opponents Croatia and Ireland are placed 16th and 25th respectively.
