LA Galaxy II Drop Another Three Points at Home vs. Phoenix Rising

Despite a positive first half from LA Galaxy II, Los Dos dropped another three points at home vs. Phoenix Rising. They are currently on a two game home losing streak.

The game started frantically for both sides. In as early as the third minute, Jack McBean was through on goal and his shot was confidently saved by Rising Keeper Josh Cohen. Directly after, Phoenix Rising were through on goal as Jason Johnson‘s shot was saved by Clement Diop.

After that frantic minute, Los Dos were finding success offensively as Adrian Vera and Andrew Zanga were facilitating the ball well.

Los Dos were able to break through in the 13th minute as Diop was able to pinpoint a perfect pass to winger Ethan Zubak, who was then able to beat Rising rightback Victor Vazquez and feed Ari Lassiter on top of the six yard box to make it 1-0 to the home side.

Throughout the first half, Los Dos found success getting behind the Rising back line through the flanks. Zubak and Lassiter were able to beat their fullback at will. This was helped by the great distribution by Diop. While they didn’t make it 2-0, it gave the away side with plenty to think about.

Not taking advantage of their chances came back to haunt Los Dos in the 31st minute as forward Jason Johnson was able to find space on the left side of the attacking third and whipped in a delightful cross that met the foot of winger Eric Avila to make it 1-1.

It would remain tied at the halftime whistle.

While Los Dos controlled the play in the first half, the Phoenix Rising were able to make the necessary defensive adjustments to contain the threats of both Lassiter and Zubak. With the neutralization of both wingers, Los Dos were unable to breakdown the Rising’s defense throughout the second half.

With both teams seeking to control the game, Lassiter took down Avila in the box, earning a penalty for the away side. Johnson was able to slide it home past Diop to make it 2-1.

Trying to find an equalizer, Los Dos were unable to break down a stingy Rising defense, they defended well with two lines of four and were able to snuff out any attack created by the home side.

The scoreline remained 2-1 at full time.
