Ethan Zubak and Hugo Arellano Ranked In USL 20 Under 20 List

In recent days, Galaxy II forward Ethan Zubak and defender Hugo Arellano were ranked among the top twenty under twenty aged players by the USL, and can only be considered as an achievement for these two highly rated young prospects.

Zubak, ranked number three on the list, made his USL debut for LA Galaxy II back in 2015 before eventually turning professional in 2016. Since then, Zubak has made a name for himself at the USL level having tallied four goals with three assists in 38 USL regular-season appearances. At 19 years of age, the 6-foot forward is one of those players who has the tangibles to become a rising star and is highly praised for his physicality, intelligence, decisiveness, and creativity up top.

“When you’re talking about players and player profiles and the types that you want to progress through, intelligence is a key factor. Ethan does have a lot of physical qualities that separate him, said Galaxy VP of Soccer Operations Peter Vagenas when Zubak turned professional. “He’s got an incredible desire and perseverance to continue to get better.”

Now although Los Dos have had struggles this season, Zubak will continue to progress as a team player, and there is no question that he will be ready for first-team minutes in the near future.

As for Arellano, he is ranked in at number nine on the list. The left-footed defender who can play at both the left back and center-back position turned professional in 2016, and is well-known for his passing accuracy. Despite Arellano’s 5-foot-11 height, his ability to win aerial duels against highly rated forwards is not one to be underestimated.

The 19-year-old has been competing at both the USL and MLS level with Galaxy this season and also made MLSsoccer.com’s top defenders under the age of 20. MLSsoccer.com’s Will Parchman had Arellano ranked in at number seven among the other defenders in the league.

Nonetheless, Ethan Zubak along side teammate Hugo Arellano will continue to raise their stock as they progress as players for the LA Galaxy, and should be exciting to see what the future holds for them.
